Transformation of the Rice-based Food Systems under Climate and Geo-political changes to Accelerate Rice self-sufficiency in Africa through Science and R&D Partnerships.

 

The 2024 AfricaRice Science Week (SW) scheduled for November 25 – 29, 2024 at the Mbe station near Bouake in Cote D’Ivoire. This year the SW will consist of three days of physical meetings for the main event (November 25-27), with additional days of optional side meetings and events.

The 2024 SW will be held under the general theme “Transformation of the Rice-based Food Systems under Climate and Geo-political changes to Accelerate Rice self-sufficiency in Africa through Science and R&D Partnerships”.

The event will highlight recent advances in breeding, agronomy, and climate science that promise transformative changes to accelerate the attainment of rice self-sufficiency and food sovereignty, while minimizing greenhouse gases emissions of rice-based food systems.

 

Four keynote presentations by leading scientists in their respective fields followed by Panel discussions in plenary sessions will be delivered under the two general sub-themes:

  1. Science to accelerate the transformation of rice-based-food systems under the threat of Climate and Geo-political changes.

  2. R4D partnerships to accelerate the transformation of rice-based-food systems under the threat of Climate and Geo-political changes.
