Ambassador of Venezuela in Benin, accompanied by FAO and ADERIZ representatives, visit AfricaRice
A delegation led by the Ambassador of Venezuela in Benin, Her Excellency Mme Belen Teresa ORSINI PIC (with jurisdiction over Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Togo and Niger), visited AfricaRice headquarters in Abidjan on 15 April 2019. The Ambassador was accompanied by representatives from FAO (Peter Anaadumba, Augusta Davis and Edgar Akanvou) and ADERIZ (Amy Barou-Seya and Emmanuel Coulibaly).
The visit was made in connection with the South-South cooperation between FAO and Venezuela entitled ‘Partnership for Sustainable Rice Systems Development in Africa’, to support efforts to improve domestic rice supply and strengthen the rice market in 10 African countries. The project aims to increase sustainable production and productivity of rice by promoting the adoption of best practices and developing agro-business models along the rice value chain.
After a warm welcome by AfricaRice Director General Dr Harold Roy-Macauley and staff, the meeting focused on capacity development of Ivorian rice seed producers by AfricaRice as part of the joint project.
